Road accidents are preventable man made disasters. They form one of the most common causes of disability and death amongst the youth and middle age in the world. India has the dubious record of having a statistic of 55 deaths per 10000 vehicles!! Road accidents most often occur due to poor road discipline, the lack of implementation and enforcement of traffic rules and drunken driving. The time for action is NOW!! The WHO and other world bodies have recognised the urgent need for attention to this problem and have declared this the "Decade of Action for Road Safety"
"SAFETY FIRST" is an initiative of the ANF trust focussing on Accident Prevention and Road Safety. A Road Safety Bulletin was brought out and distributed free on the World Head Injury Awareness Day March 2011.
